Acer first to launch Chrome OS netbook in 2010

Acer LogoIn an interview with Digitimes Acer chairman and CEO J.T. Wang announced that Acer will be the first hardware vendor to offer a netbook with Chrome OS preinstalled. According to several industry sources the release date will be in the second half of 2010. This is the second time acer uses a Google OS. They already have their Aspire D250 with Windows XP and Google Android dual-boot capabilities on the market.

Bill Gates on Chrome OS

Bill GatesBill Gates speaks about Google Chrome OS in an interview with CNET news. For him it looks like yet another linux distribution and doesn’t scare him at all. He also compares it to the other Google OS, Android, by saying: “I mean, you’ve got Android running on Netbooks. It’s got a browser in it.” I think, he’s right in this point.
